Kinetic Awareness™ For Performers

Kinetic Awareness is a somatic practice developed by dancer/ choreographer/filmmaker Elaine Summers to explore and understand the systems of movement that the body lives by. It facilitates changes in frozen tension patterns by investigating gradated use pf tension and range of motion.  Through ultra-slow movement on various-sized rubber balls, it offers a profound experience of permission to explore  the body- mind while  supporting, massaging, stretching and articulating parts of the body.

Kinetic Awareness™ For Performers is an experiential process of self-study extrapolated from the underlying principles of Elaine Summers’ work and from insight meditation, which explores relationships between movement and consciousness. Through contemplative focus on psychophysical and biokinetic experience via extremely slow and gentle movement experiments, it invites the unconscious into conscious expression.
